DEMO — all payments are simulated, so no real money changes hands.

The best stuff online is free — and a real person made it

A fix that saved your afternoon. A video that finally made something click. A snippet of code that just worked. The one answer that actually helped. It wasn't a company — it was a content creator who gave it away. ThrowBone lets you tip them directly. C'mon, throw them a bone!

Why ThrowBone?

Ads were supposed to pay creators. Instead they broke the web — pop-ups, auto-playing video, pages that jump while you read, tracking that follows you everywhere. So we all installed blockers, completely understandably. But the blocker barely dents the ad network; it's the individual creator who ends up with nothing.

ThrowBone is the missing third option. If something helped you, tip the person who made it — a quarter, a dollar, whatever feels right. No ads. No paywall. No subscription. You decide, after the fact, and you can change your mind right up until you pay. It should feel good to give, and never bad to pass.

How it works

1
Sign up in about a minute Just a name and an email. No card required to get started, and you commit to nothing.
2
Click the bone wherever you see it On an article, a video description, a post — pick an amount ($0.25, $0.50, $1, $2) and you're done. The popup opens right there; you never leave the page you're reading.
3
Pay when you're ready — or change your mind Tips add up quietly. Once they reach $10 we email you to settle up, and you can delete any tip you've decided against first — no questions asked.
4
The creator gets paid We pass your tip along automatically once their jar reaches their payout threshold, keeping only 0.5% to run the service.

Two ways to fund your tipping

Pick whichever suits you — you can switch later.

OPTION A

Accumulate & pay later

  • Tips are pledged, not charged.
  • When your pledges reach $10, we email you for payment.
  • Delete any pledge before you pay — no questions asked.
  • Nothing up front, ever.
OPTION B

Preload a wallet

  • Add $10 or more up front.
  • Tips are deducted instantly — fast and frictionless.
  • Optional auto-reload when you run low.
  • Withdraw whatever you haven't used, any time.

How it works for creators

Common questions

Does it cost anything to sign up?

No. Signing up is free and commits you to nothing — you only ever pay for tips you've chosen to give and chosen to keep.

What if I change my mind about a tip?

Delete it. Any pledged tip can be rescinded from your dashboard right up until you pay, no questions asked. That revocability is the heart of how ThrowBone works.

How much does ThrowBone keep?

0.5% — half a cent of every dollar — taken at payout time. Everything else goes to the creator you tipped.

Will the creator know it was me?

No. Creators see aggregate totals and anonymized tiers only — never your name, email, or which tip was yours. We also never sell or share your information.

What counts as "content"?

Anything freely published that someone found useful: an article, a how-to video, a code snippet, a tutorial, or the best answer to a question. If it helped you, its creator can receive a bone.

I'm a creator — how do I add the bone?

Create a free creator account and you'll get a one-line snippet to paste anywhere you publish, plus a hosted ThrowBone page that works immediately if you'd rather not edit your site. Start here.

Is real money changing hands here?

Not in this demo — payments are simulated so you can try the whole flow safely. Everything else, including the emails you'll receive, works for real.
